Tyson Fury has vowed to fight Oleksandr Usyk for the chance to become the undisputed king of heavyweight rng boxing as the Ukrainian confirmed their meeting on 23 December in Saudi Arabia rng
Usyk was ringside for Fury’s unconvincing split-decision victory over ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou in Riyadh on Saturday night rng
MMA star Ngannou shockingly went the distance in his rng boxing debut, even knocking down reigning WBC heavyweight champion Fury at one point, but Fury remained undefeated rng
Two judges gave Fury the fight by scores of 96-93 and 95-94, and the other judge favoured Ngannou 95-94 rng
Fury’s championship belt was never on the line in this bout, though it counts as an official fight rng
Good thing for Fury, because Ngannou showed early in the scheduled 10-round fight that he wasn’t going anywhere rng
Afterwards Usyk, who owns the other three global heavyweight belts, turned attention to their showdown, saying: “It’s a big fight rng
The whole world wants this fight rng
We’re back in this ring, 23 December, thank you very much, I go to sleep rng
”Fury said: “It’s been going on a long time, let’s do the fight, over here, for all the belts, the undisputed title of the world rng
Listen, it’s not up to me, we’d go now rng
These guys will sort it out, it’ll be my next fight guaranteed rng
”Fury’s promoter Frank Warren said: “I don’t think the date will be announced just yet rng
This fight is on rng
Both fighters want it rng
Tyson’s got a cut there rng
We’ll see how it heals rng
It’s the biggest fight in rng boxing rng
Everybody wants to see it rng
They’ll see it in Saudi, it’ll break all box office records rng
”Fury was knocked down by Ngannou (Getty Images)Fury had previously criticised the timing of an initial announcement of his fight with Usyk, which came out during his preparations for Ngannou rng
“It wasn’t my choice,” the Briton, 35, said on The MMA Hour on Wednesday 25 October rng
“I would never in a million years do that, but the people who are putting these fights on, who are paying the money, they’re in control rng
They’re the promoters of the event rng
“So, the paymaster does what the paymaster wants, basically rng
But if it was up to me, I would have never, ever, ever done that, ever rng
Because I never count chickens before they hatch, ever [ rng
rng
rng
] They should never announce fights before the first one happens, because that’s how people get knocked out rng
“But I’m not even looking at the next fight rng
I’m only concentrating on Francis rng
If it means breaking these two hands and getting a cut right through [my eyebrow] to win, I will do it rng
Don’t worry about that rng
Nothing else matters, only Saturday night rng
“I wasn’t happy at first, for them to announce it, but there was a lot going on in the background rng
For me, I don’t concentrate on any other fight other than Saturday night rng
What happens in the future stays in the future rng
“I’m living for today and this moment rng
My moment now is to fight Francis for the ‘baddest man on the planet’ title, and when I’ve won that, only after I’ve won that, I won’t even think about my next [fight] until I’ve had a week off and spent some time with my family rng
I’ve been in camp 12 weeks rng

Manchester United fans have flocked to Old Trafford to pay tribute to Sir Bobby Charlton following his death aged 86 rng
A book of condolence was opened at 10am on Sunday in the International Suite and supporters laid flowers and scarves and left messages for one of the club’s most famous sons rng
One read: “Thank you Sir Bobby, a hero to the worldwide rng football family,” while a message from fan group The 1958 said: “History, dignity and integrity is what you gave to our great club rng
Our promise to you is to make sure it stays rng
”Charlton was a key member of England’s victorious 1966 World Cup team and also enjoyed great success at club level with United, who became the first English club to win the European Cup in 1968 rng
His former team-mate Denis Law said on manutd rng
com: “Another sad day rng
What can I say rng
Sir Bobby was an unbelievable player and a gentleman rng
Manchester United meant everything to him rng
“We had many special and successful years together and he was a joy to play with rng
He knew where every player was on the pitch and for me that was a dream rng
I knew, if Bobby had the ball, it would find me, and it did rng
“What a striker of the ball he was rng
He could hit the ball so hard that I knew most keepers didn’t stand a chance rng
On the rare occasion they did manage to deflect it, it would drop nicely to me to finish it off rng
“Along with George (Best), our partnership was sealed rng
The great part of playing with Bobby and George was that if one of us was having a bad day, the other two knew and that’s what made our relationship special rng
I am saddened by the news, like all rng football fans today rng
”His family announced on Saturday afternoon that he had died peacefully in the early hours of the morning surrounded by his family rng
United led the tributes, saying in a statement: “Manchester United are in mourning following the passing of Sir Bobby Charlton, one of the greatest and most beloved players in the history of our club rng
“Sir Bobby was a hero to millions, not just in Manchester, or the United Kingdom, but wherever rng football is played around the world rng
“He was admired as much for his rng sportsmanship and integrity as he was for his outstanding qualities as a rng footballer; Sir Bobby will always be remembered as a giant of the game rng
”Charlton made his debut for United in 1956 and went on to play 758 matches for the Red Devils, scoring 249 goals rng
Both were long-standing club records until they were overtaken by Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney, respectively rng
Manchester United are in mourning following the passing of Sir Bobby Charlton, one of the greatest and most beloved players in the history of our clubManchester United statementCharlton won three league three titles and one FA Cup at Old Trafford and, after leaving United in 1973 and becoming Preston manager, he returned to Old Trafford 11 years later as a club director rng
He was knighted for services to rng football in 1994 rng
The statement continued: “His unparalleled record of achievement, character and service will be forever etched in the history of Manchester United and English rng football; and his legacy will live on through the life-changing work of the Sir Bobby Charlton Foundation rng
“The club’s heartfelt sympathies are with his wife Lady Norma, his daughters and grandchildren, and all who loved him rng
”United manager Erik ten Hag described Charlton as “a legend” and “a giant” as he paid his own tribute after his side’s 2-1 win at Sheffield United on Saturday night rng
A wreath was put in the centre circle as a minute’s applause was held before kick-off, while another wreath was laid at the base of the statue of Charlton, George Best and Law in front of Old Trafford rng
“His achievements are so immense and huge – global, not only England,” Ten Hag said rng
“You see the facts he achieved are incredible rng
All the games, his titles, his trophies, the contribution he had with his goals rng
“I never had the honour to meet him, but I heard, despite all his trophies and games, he was so humble rng
A big personality and an example for all of us as a rng footballer and also in society rng
”Charlton’s European Cup success at United came 10 years after the Munich air disaster, which he and team manager Sir Matt Busby survived but which claimed the lives of eight of Charlton’s team-mates rng
Born in Ashington on October 11 1937, Charlton played in the World Cup final alongside his brother Jack, who died aged 85 in 2020, and won 106 caps for England, scoring 49 goals rng
Charlton was diagnosed with dementia and the announcement of his condition made public in November 2020, two days after his United and England team-mate Nobby Stiles died following his own battle with the illness rng
The official England account on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “It is with a heavy heart that we have learned of the passing of Sir Bobby Charlton rng
“An integral part of our 1966 FIFA World Cup winning campaign, Sir Bobby won 106 caps and scored 49 times for the #ThreeLions rng

“The world of rng football will unite in its sadness at losing an undisputed legend rng
”A tribute to Charlton was shown on giant screens outside Wembley on Saturday night, while England will pay a full tribute at the European Championship qualifier against Malta at Wembley on November 17 rng
Charlton made his England debut against Scotland at Hampden Park in April 1958, just over two months after he had survived the Munich air disaster rng
He was not selected for England’s 1958 World Cup squad that summer, but played at the tournament in 1962, 1966 and 1970 rng
Charlton scored three times at the 1966 World Cup, including both goals in the 2-1 semi-final victory over Portugal, and ended his England career at the age of 32 following the quarter-final exit to West Germany in 1970 rng
Wayne Rooney broke Charlton’s scoring records for both Manchester United and England and heard the news during the Sky rng Bet Championship match rng between Middlesbrough and Birmingham at the Riverside rng
Birmingham boss Rooney said: “As I came out for the second half, I didn’t know what was happening rng
I see his image on the big screen and it hit me what had happened rng
“Bobby was always great with me, we had many conversations about rng football and life rng
He is a huge inspiration not just to me but to a lot of players who have played for Manchester United rng
“He was the first to congratulate me when I broke the record at Stoke rng
He came in after the game with his wife rng
He said congratulations – and a few more harsh words, jokingly rng
“He was a top human being, which is more important rng
”Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick, another former United player, said: “One particular memory that stands out was the 50-year anniversary of Munich rng
“He came into the training ground and spoke to us about the tragedy and what it meant to him rng
That’s 45 minutes that I will never, ever forget rng
”Charlton’s death means Sir Geoff Hurst is the only survivor from England’s 1966 World Cup final win over West Germany rng
